Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Tibo EMS account. After entering your email and password, you'll also need a one-time 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone before you can log in.

What is 2FA and why is it required?

Passwords alone can be compromised. 2FA means that even if someone else knows your password, they still can't access your account without the code from your phone. Tibo EMS requires 2FA for all users to keep your energy data secure.

The code is generated by an authenticator app installed on your mobile device and refreshes every 30 seconds, so it can only be used once.

Set up 2FA on your first login

You only need to do this once. Before you start, download one of the following apps on your mobile phone:

  • Google Authenticator

  • Microsoft Authenticator

Once you have the app installed, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Tibo EMS login page and enter your email address and password as normal.

  2. A QR code will appear on screen.

  3. Open your authenticator app on your phone and look for the option to add a new account — this is usually a + button or an Add account option.

  4. Choose Scan a QR code and point your phone's camera at the QR code on screen.

  5. The app will add a Tibo EMS entry and immediately start generating 6-digit codes.

  6. Enter the current 6-digit code shown in the app into the Tibo EMS login screen and click Verify (or equivalent).

That's it — your 2FA setup is complete. You won't need to scan the QR code again.

Log in with 2FA after setup

On every subsequent login, the process is straightforward:

  1. Enter your email and password on the Tibo EMS login page.

  2. When prompted for your 2FA code, open your authenticator app on your phone.

  3. Find the Tibo EMS entry in the app.

  4. Enter the 6-digit code currently displayed. Make sure to enter it before it refreshes — the app usually shows a countdown timer.

Important things to know

  • Each user must have their own login credentials. Tibo EMS does not support shared accounts. If two people log in using the same username and password, the 2FA setup will conflict and both users may be locked out.

  • The authenticator app must be on a mobile device you have regular access to — either a personal phone or a company-issued device.

  • If you change phones or reinstall your authenticator app, contact Tibo Energy support to request an authenticator reset before your next login.
