This article explains the OCPP requirements for connecting EV chargers to the Tibo Energy platform, including broker requirements.
OCPP broker requirements
To connect an EV charger to the Tibo OCPP broker, the following requirements must be met:
OCPP version: Firmware 1.6j or higher is required.
SmartCharging module: Must be supported and enabled — this allows Tibo to set power limits on the charger.
Network connection: The charger must use a SIM card without a VPN, or preferably an ethernet connection. A VPN on the SIM card will prevent the charger from connecting to the broker.
CPO websocket URL: The CPO must have a publicly accessible websocket URL.
Security level 1 is preferred, as it ensures Tibo can connect to the CPO.
IP whitelisting is supported as an alternative.
Meter values: The charger must report current values for L1, L2, and L3. This is required for Tibo to detect whether the charger is operating on single-phase or three-phase power.
OCA certification: The EV charger must be licensed or certified by the Open Charge Alliance (OCA).
